Viola Loves is a monthly collection of three things we’re currently pining over, be it a skillfully crafted object, the travel destination of our dreams, an artist we can’t get enough of or a woman who has been inspiring us. This month, we explore beauty in indulging in the present, planning for the future and finding happiness in the everyday.
January is a time to breath in the new and look ahead, and nothing gets us in the mood to do so like a fresh calendar. Notem, the Denmark design studio using beautiful Scandinavian paper, has a gorgeous range, but our favorite is the Even Work Journal in dark green – ours is already getting filled with 2019 goals, events and plans for Viola Grey.
Over the holiday season, we did a lot of lounging around and sleeping in – of course, in our Colette sleepwear set, but also in our latest favorite bed linens by Bed Threads. A brand with the same made-to-last values, these pure French flax linen sheets are the perfect weight. We’re especially fond of the set in rust.
A guide to happiness by New York Times
If you haven’t read NYT’s piece on ‘How to be Happy,’ it’s worth a look. Of course the answers to happiness can’t simply be found in an article, but there are some takeaways in here that are especially good to mull over at this time of year – with resolutions and self-improvement on many people’s minds, it’s important to remember, “Being kind to others is a proven path toward happiness. And don’t forget to be kind to yourself as well.”
