This month, we chatted to Bannie Williams, nutritionist, author and co-owner of Melbourne-based Fort Green Yoga + Wholefood Cafe. Bannie generously shared her wisdom on self-love, confidence and daily rituals to help you feel beautiful from the inside out.
You know we’re inspired by you. Who inspires you and why?
At the moment I’m incredibly inspired by the practice of yoga and it’s benefits as well as creating beautiful spaces for people to practice in. I’m also forever inspired by my Mum, who is a highly respected Judge and the most hardworking, strong and diligent woman I’ve ever met.
What advice would you give your younger self, or what’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
Nourish not punish! It’s so easy to be unkind to ourselves, restrictive and focus on the negatives. It took me a long time to change from this mind frame, but self-love and care is vital for the relationship we have with ourselves, relationships with others and our approach to life.
What does beauty mean to you?
The beauty of being yourself and no one else. There is nothing more beautiful that someone who is comfortable in their own skin and embraces who they are and their quirks.
What daily rituals, practices or things help you feel like the best version of yourself?
I start most days with yoga practice in our studio followed by a coffee and a green smoothie. Without a doubt, yoga allows me to be the most productive, kind and patient version of myself. The coffee and smoothie are more of a daily ritual to keep me awake and nourished!
